Pet Sematary

Horror Louis Creed, his wife Rachel and their two children Gage and Ellie move to a rural home where they are welcomed and enlightened about the eerie 'Pet Sematary' located near their home. After the tragedy of their cat being killed by a truck, Louis resorts to burying it in the mysterious pet cemetery, which is definitely not as it seems, as it proves to the Creeds that sometimes, dead is better.
Media Author Review
United States
The Hollywood Reporter
"A solid if not earthshaking horror pic built around notably good performances (...) [Its] final scene captures the ambiguous creepiness of the novel's end while totally reinventing its content."
United States
Bloody Disgusting
"Truthfully, I could write another 2000 words on why this is such a great take on one of the best King stories there is, but I’d rather you see if for yourself. Forget King’s novel or the ’89 film,(…) Rating: ★★★★½ (out of 5)"
United Kingdom
The Guardian
"[A] brutally effective and convulsively disturbing story (…) Rating: ★★★★ (out of 5)"
United States
Variety
"[Widmyer and Kolsch] do a decent job of creating atmosphere, especially in a handful of dreams (…) but there’s the distinct feeling that they’re not doing nearly enough to distinguish this version from the one that came before."
United States
Rolling Stone
"It will make you jump out of your seat, but what matters are the provocations you take home and can’t shake. That’s the stuff of nightmares (…) Rating: ★★★½ (out of 5)"
United States
The Wrap
"Its terrifying story about death still leaves audiences with much to think about long after the credits roll, and the twists that lead to a new ending are fun to follow."
United States
IGN
"A fun and frightening film (...) While some purists may balk at the changes and omissions made here, those simply looking for a horror movie as compelling as it is wicked should enjoy this new 'Pet Sematary'."
United States
Collider
"[It] isn't striving to be an easy communal crowdpleaser. Just like the source material, it's a movie with a real thoughtful mean streak that'll chill you to the bone, and ensure you remain on edge well after it concludes."
United States
IndieWire
"[It] that succeeds in some areas where the 1989 version failed while ultimately failing to deliver an ending that resonates as deeply as its source material."
United States
The Playlist
"The sleek, well-crafted, if somewhat muted 'Pet Sematary' update (...) nails the tone of one of Stephen King's most sinister tales."
United States
Austin Chronicle
"A pretty good horror film (...) Given how many years we’ve been devoid of quality King adaptations or wide-release genre films, fans should be pretty thrilled with what Kolsch and Widmeyer have accomplished."
