Media Author Review
United States
The Hollywood Reporter
"A witty premise clothed in an attractive technical package (...) The sex dungeon scenes, all vivid neon and lustrous latex, also have a pleasingly glossy rock-video look."
United States
Variety
"Gradually carving out a tender, conflicted misfit romance from lurid beginnings (...) Valkeapää maintains a peculiar tonal balance to the end"
United States
Film School Rejects
"[It] won’t be the easiest film to convince your friends to watch (...) But as antithetical as it seems, 'Dogs Don’t Wear Pants' is underscored by a tender spirit that offers healing. This isn’t torture porn."
United Kingdom
Empire
"[It] makes '50 Shades Of Grey' look like kindergarten. A funny, provocative and strangely moving treat. The safe word is excellent (…) Rating: ★★★★ (out of 5)"
United Kingdom
The Guardian
"Intriguing but hard to watch (...) But I wondered a little that it ran out of ideas, and couldn’t develop Mona as a character (…) Rating: ★★★ (out of 5)"
United Kingdom
Screendaily
"Surprisingly non-confrontational (...) [It] may leave some audience members whimpering for a safe word."
United Kingdom
Metro
"The lead characters are interesting and the script contains some very Finnish flashes of humour (...) A stylish, sombre and occasionally unwatchable watch (unless you’re into dental porn, of course) (…) Rating: ★★★ (out of 5)"
Cineuropa
"It’s a delight to report that there is much more to love here than just that glorious title (...) The Finnish director proves once again that he is – thank heavens – a sick, sick man."
