Entertainment Weekly
"The thrill of an underdog story never really gets old (...) 'Hustle', on Netflix June 8, is satisfying in the way the best sports movies are: a scrappy tale of adversity and triumph, smartly told."
United States
Variety
"'Hustle' is fiction, but it often feels like a true-life drama, and that dovetails with the new authenticity of Adam Sandler, who has learned to pour every bit of himself into a role."
United States
The Hollywood Reporter
"Adhering to the formulaic requirements of inspirational sports dramas while supplying plenty of individuality and characters worth rooting for, the Netflix feature scores."
United States
AV Club
"A feel-good sports film full of humor and heart (...) its compelling character drive and exhilarating technical craftsmanship more than make up for its narrative familiarity."
United States
rogerebert.com
"If 'Hustle' passes around a lot of sports movie cliches, it does so with a light touch. And its sense of atmosphere, and depiction of Stanley's milieu, is sensitive and knowing (…) Rating: ★★★ (out of 4)"

"There's a feelgood bedrock that the film can't and won't jackhammer through. It's custom-made for the fans. For everyone else it would pass the time as an airline movie on a long-haul flight (…) Rating: ★★ (out of 5)"

The Playlist
"There’s enough craft and heart involved in 'Hustle' to keep it from feeling like just a league PSA or an algorithmically crafted Netflix product."
United Kingdom
Screendaily
"At times, [the] attempts at a more realistic portrait of the sport are undercut by contrived twists meant to manipulate the audience's emotions (...) Sandler does his best"
United States
The Wrap
"An agreeable combination drill of humor, hurt, on-court action and redemptive uplift that’s closer to simply being a solidly inspiring sports movie than anything notably representative of the Sandler oeuvre."
United States
IndieWire
"'Hustle' may not be the greatest redemption story ever told about second chances (...) the film holds fast enough to the courage of its convictions to feel like it’s got skin in the game."
United States
Slant
"[It] has an insidiously pacifying effect, reassuring us that no matter how much we may be mistreated and disrespected on the job, our bosses will ultimately reward us for our hard work and dedication (…) Rating: ★½ (out of 4)"
United States
Paste Magazine
"With 'Hustle', Sandler has finally found a movie where it actually makes sense to hire Patrick and O'Neal."
