Synopsis: The Magnum photographer Raymond Depardon is also one of French cinema's great classical documentarists. In his latest film, he has travelled far and wide with a caravan furnished as a living room, where Depardon invites people inside in pairs, and simply lets them talk to each other while the camera rolls. A series of conversations that reach far and wide, and give us a very human snapshot of the French at a time when Marine Le Pen is storming ahead. But where far from everyone is willing to join the fray. With the caravan as a kind of public living room, Depardon's guests confess to each other (and us), while the host modestly keeps himself in the background. 'France' is captured in fixed frames, and nobody is interrupted as they speak. But Depardon has a veteran's ability to let big stories grow forth from small moments and fleeting observations.
