- Synopsis
- From a story by Jim Thompson. Grifter Mitch Allison (Peter Gallagher) 'borrowed' $25,000 from his con-artist wife Bette (Nancy Travis) and went off to double the money by hitting a few easy marks on the train to Vegas. It was a fool-proof plan... until he outsmarted himself and lost all the dough. Broke, stranded in the desert, Mitch's day went from 'bad' to 'unbelievable' when he crossed paths with redheaded harridan Babe (Isabella Rossellini) and her schmuck of a husband (John Reilly) and found himself up to his neck in the scam of his life.
