- Synopsis
- The husband-and-wife team of Ivy Ling Po and Chin Han returned to another Huangmei Opera classic after Lady General Hua Mu-Lan which is helmed by See Luk Chow and written by Chang Cheh. The Ching family is wealthy and Master Ching has three children: Ching Feng-hsiao (Ivy Ling Po) and Ching Feng-sheng (Chin Feng) from his late wife, and a third son from his current wife. The second wife, their stepmother Hsia (Kao Pao-shu), is always causing problems between Feng-sheng and Feng-hsiao and their father. Whilest Feng-sheng leaves home to take the Imperial exams, the stepmother schemes to have Feng-hsiao marry her cousin, a rich and powerful lord, while framing her fiance, Li Ru Long (Chin Han), to whom she was engaged since birth.
