- Synopsis
- John Huston & The Dubliners is appropriately subtitled, “On the Set of The Dead” for it is here virtually all of the filming takes place. For what would be his last complete project, The Dead, based on a James Joyce novella, Huston has gathered around him many of his long-time collaborators: including his son, Tony, the screenwriter; and Anjelica, the actress. The tone on the set is calm,. efficient and harmonious. This seems as much to do with the meaning of Joyce’s novella as it does with Huston’s gentle, unassuming style of direction. The portrait of John Huston that emerges is warm and memorable.
