Synopsis
Famously political director Oliver Stone continues his career-long obsession with making films about major figures of the 1960s with this documentary which details Stone's journey to Cuba to interview dictator Fidel Castro (in power for 40+ years since the 1959 revolution) at great length, including a 2/16/02 dinner between the two that reportedly lasted over six hours, and another dinner at the Terraza restaurant in Cohima that used to be one of Ernest Hemingway's favorite places. Among the subjects Castro discusses with Stone are the Cuban Missile Crisis, the United States' embargo on his country and how Fidel sees Cuba's place in the world. Oliver Stone's Vietnam War drama, Platoon, was reportedly a big hit in Cuba, and is one of Castro's favorite films.
