The Pacific (TV Miniseries)

TV Series. Drama. War A 10-part mini-series from the creators of "Band of Brothers" set in the midst of World War II, following three US Marines in the Pacific, during America's battle with the Japanese. These Marines expected a "cakewalk", but they had no idea what they were getting into.
Media Author Review
United States
USA Today
"'The Pacific' is a made-for-TV finest moment. (...) An equally spectacular, equally triumphant yet tonally divergent work that stands with 'Band of Brothers' as the best war movie ever made for TV. (...) Rating: ★★★★ (out of 4)"
United States
The New York Times
"In the fog of war movies, some events are hard to follow, a few characters are easily confused, but the series is never less than spellbinding."
United States
Variety
"While powerful sequences emerge, they're simply spaced too liberally across this ambitious project's epic, blood-splattered canvas. (...) What the production most sorely lacks, though, is a strong sense of cohesion"
United States
Time
"It will repay you with a brutal but eloquent story that’s finally less about how men fight and die than what happens to them when they fight and survive."
United Kingdom
Telegraph
"'The Pacific' wisely stuck to its winning formula"
United States
The New Yorker
"The creators of 'The Pacific' set out to honor the marines’ experience; they haven’t exactly failed to do that, but neither have they succeeded in leading viewers to a deeper appreciation of this (...) faraway war"
United Kingdom
The Guardian
"Spectacular, horrifying and profound (...) Very little of the series (...) isn't excellent"
United States
The Washington Post
"Engaging, complex (...) If you give 'The Pacific' about three episodes to broaden its story (...) it becomes the sweeping, engagingly emotional stuff one would expect"
United States
Entertainment Weekly
"Brilliant, brutal, and, yes, very enjoyable (...) It has tremendous narrative drive (...) It creates marvelous drama from a highly chaotic, confusing series of battlefields"
