The Wrap
"[8th Season Review]: This installment of the AMC drama begins with a compelling hook and boo-hiss baddies, but it's not clear if the ending will satisfy viewers"
United States
Collider
"[8th Season Review]: Though its more grounded first season still remains its best and feels like a distant memory in the same way that the original's does, there remains something worth holding out hope for here"
United States
Variety
"[2nd Season Review]: The idea of capturing the zombie apocalypse as it began, from a character-driven, family drama point of view, wasn’t a bad one, but this 'Walking Dead' spin-off thus far hasn’t developed a cast to keep the premise afloat."
United States
Vanity Fair
"[2nd Season Review]: Think of 'Fear the Walking Dead' as a compelling little side narrative, that for its newness and tightly built form is often more exciting than the show that bore it."
United States
Variety
"Initially feels too much like a snore, narrowly following a single, not-terribly-interesting family (...) A second episode begins to propel the story forward, thankfully"
United States
New York Daily News
"AMC's zombie spinoff finds fresh life (...) In a bold stroke that works beautifully, the first episode unfolds almost in slow motion. It’s not Man Vs. Zombie, not yet. (...) Rating: ★★★★ (out of five)"
United States
The Hollywood Reporter
"The first episode and the hour-long second episode — while not actually boring — are certainly less magnetic than the original. (...) There's rich dramatic material to be mined (...) and 'Fear' should get to it sometime within these first six episodes."
United States
IndieWire
"[About first 2 episodes]: A Slow-Burn Prequel That Moves Toward Its Future Too Quickly. (...) The writing is tepid, with tried and true horror cliches driving the simple if serviceable action. (...) Adam Davidson's direction doesn't fare much better."
United States
Vanity Fair
"[2nd Season Review]: Think of 'Fear the Walking Dead' as a compelling little side narrative, that for its newness and tightly built form is often more exciting than the show that bore it."
