Dora and the Lost City of Gold

Adventure. Comedy. Kids "Dora the Explorer" will center on Dora (Isabela Moner) as a teenager moving to the city and dealing with high school. She finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), and a rag tag group of teens on a Goonies-esque adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.
Media Author Review
United States
IndieWire
"If only every big screen adaptation of a beloved existing property could feel this funny and fresh, there’d be less to fear about an industry besieged by recycled material that never takes a risk. That’s what Dora is all about."
United States
Variety
"While the film may be rudimentary in many respects, it would also be fair to say it represents a certain hope for the future (...) Maybe we could all learn something from Dora after all."
United States
The Hollywood Reporter
"The director seems to be trying to keep the hormones at bay, but there are some things you just can't disguise (...) To be believed, this story should have been set in 1955."

The Wrap
"After a shaky start, hits the right notes of fun and cultural specificity"

"It’s encouraging to see a sweet-natured, entertaining alternative to the cartoons and superheroes that are expected to occupy most 7-to-12-year olds"

SlashFilm
"A perfectly pleasant if unremarkable family adventure (...) It’s a surprisingly funny blend of fish-out-of-water comedy and adventure, even if the familiarity is hard to ignore."

Screendaily
"The jungle sequences tend to be unimaginatively directed, and the effects budget seems relatively paltry (...) [It] tarnishes the memory of an innocuous but good-hearted series."
