- Synopsis
- Framed for murdering her lover, Carol Madison (Ione Sky) is forced to endure life behind bars in John McNaughton's GIRLS IN PRISON. Carol finds the going rough in the big house and eventually joins a gang run by two hardened convicts, Jennifer (Anne Heche) and Aggie (Missy Crider). Together they fend off the crooked warden and plan a daring breakout.
With a crackling script cowritten by legendary screenwriter-director Samuel Fuller, characteristically provocative direction by McNaughton (HENRY PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER), and steamy performances from Hecht, Crider, and Skye, GIRLS IN PRISON has all the ingredients for a sizzlingly good time. McNaughton takes his first dive into lesbian erotica (he would go even further in WILD THINGS), bestowing upon viewers a racy shower scene in which Carol is seduced by one of her fellow inmates. In the tradition of classic women-behind-bars films such as CAGED HEAT, WOMEN IN CAGES, and CAGED FURY, GIRLS IN PRISON is both a satisfyingly overstuffed collection of guilty pleasures and a campy noir thriller.- Movie Soulmates' ratings
