- Synopsis
- Samantha Morrow (Christine Lahti), a devoted wife and mother, is devastated when her husband, David (Chris Potter), walks out on her and her son leaving her to pick up the pieces and start over again. Determined to keep the only home her son has ever known, Samantha decides to take in boarders to make ends meet. Lydia, a free-spirited woman experiencing love a second time around, becomes Samantha's first boarder. While Lydia is moving in, Samantha meets the mover, King, a heavy-set blue collar worker with a warm disposition and big heart. There is an immediate spark between the two of them, but Samantha ignores it. Despite her reluctance to face her feelings, Samantha and King begin to forge a friendship after King directs Samantha to a job agency. Samantha also welcomes another boarder, Lavender Blue, a teenage girl who has run away from an unhappy home. Another constant presence in Samantha's life is her mother Veronica, a flashy and vibrant woman who offers sage advice as her daughter begins to live again.
