Synopsis
Kyoto, in the beginning of the Showa period (late 1920s/early 1930s). Fujiko, the daughter of a priest, has after graduating from girls’ high school married the butcher’s son Shintaro. Shintaro’s father has two mistresses, a fact not easy to grasp for Fujiko. Then a pregnant Fujiko is devastated to learn that her own husband has started an affair with a maid. The maid has to return to the family, but leaves her new born child behind. Fujiko now has to take care of both her own and her husband’s illegitimate child. But is Shintaro really over his affair?
