Telegraph
"Ford gives it his all – but while the three original films moved like page-turners, this fifth instalment is painfully short of spark. (...) Here, though, the action is generic and clunkily staged. (...) Rating: ★★ (out of 5)"
United States
Deadline
"Packed with action and nostalgia (...) It’s fun; it’s wacky; it works".
United States
The Hollywood Reporter
"A final chapter short on both thrills and fun"
Ireland
Irish Times
"Nobody with a brain in their heads will compare Dial of Destiny favourably to the first three films. There is a sense throughout of a project struggling to stand beneath the weight of its history. (...) Rating: ★★★ (out of 5)"
United Kingdom
Total Film
"A terrific thrill ride. With Ford in fine form, Indy’s last stand is a highly satisfying blend of action, humour and emotion. (...) Rating: ★★★★ (out of 5)"
United States
IndieWire
Not only is “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” an almost complete waste of time, it’s also a belabored reminder that some relics are better left where and when they belong.
United Kingdom
The Guardian
"It’s the first Indiana Jones film not to be directed by Steven Spielberg – James Mangold is now at the helm – but despite that, this one has quite a bit of zip and fun and narrative ingenuity. (...) Rating: ★★★ (out of 5)"
United States
Variety
"James Mangold's action epic is made in the style of Steven Spielberg, but the exhilaration is gone"
United Kingdom
Empire
"For this first Spielberg-less outing, all the hallmarks of the series are there as you’d hope them to be, lovingly preserved like archaeological treasures. (...) it feels like a fitting goodbye to cinema’s favourite grave-robber. Rating: ★★★★ (out of 5)"
United States
Vanity Fair
"One can feel the four credited screenwriters grasping at inspiration and coming up short. What they did manage to make would be perfectly fine as a standalone adventure film starring some other character, but it’s not worthy of the whip."
United States
Rolling Stone
"[It] brings some thrills, a few chills, and a whole lot of fan service and VFX"
United Kingdom
Digital Spy
"[It] might not feel particularly innovative, but it is well-made blockbuster entertainment that will deliver what 'Indiana Jones' fans want. And, sometimes, that's good enough (...) Rating: ★★★ (out of 5)"

"[It] fails to recapture Spielberg’s magic. With uninspired action and conflicting themes and character motivations, it’s proof that some things should just be allowed to end"
United Kingdom
London Evening Standard
"There are some genuinely moving scenes as we see this fantastic character finally getting ready to hang up his hat for the last time. Thanks, Indy, it's been quite a ride (...) Rating: ★★★ (out of 5)"
