"Director Ryuhei Kitamura is a bit weak when it comes to storytelling, but there are few who could so enthusiastically stage a butcher fight amid hanging human carcasses in a subway car."
United Kingdom
The Guardian
"Japanese director Ryuhei Kitamura delivers plenty of stylish visuals and an admirably unrestrained attitude to gore. (...) Rating: ★★ (out of 5)"
United States
Variety
"Film isn't scary, per se, but it's mostly effective nonetheless"
United States
Entertainment Weekly
"'The Midnight Meat Train' -- despite a great title -- really does stink like month-old human flesh."
United States
Variety
"Before flying off the rails in the final curve, The Midnight Meat Train rolls quite smoothly as a mid-'80s-style psycho-killer thriller a la 'The Hitcher'."
