"[There's a] bitter aftertaste of dullness, an unforgivable sin within the art form Constanzo seems so set on paying tribute to"
United Kingdom
The Guardian
"A tasty, showbizzy crowd-pleaser and romantic melodrama with a vivid streak of surreal absurdity in the tradition of Federico Fellini (...) Rating: ★★★★ (out of 5)"
United States
The Hollywood Reporter
"[It] is uneven, and at 2 hours and 20 minutes indulgently long, but it is also full of texture, wit and a few done-to-perfection set pieces"
United States
Variety
"A dull, black dahlia-like nystery (...) The performers in 'Finally Dawn' are its weakest feature: big and broad, prone to pantomime, clashing with whatever it is their colleagues are doing"
United Kingdom
Screendaily
"One of the film’s simplest pleasures is its evocation of the craft, business and outreach of cinema during the golden years of 'Hollywood on the Tiber' (...) The most accomplished work to date by the director"
United States
Entertainment Weekly
"A surreal vision of coming-in-age via cinema, and James fully sells the movie star mayhem at its center. But it can't overcome its meandering script and hollow depiction of the era"
United States
IndieWire
"Saverio Costanzo’s driverless feature seems to constantly make us ask ourselves the question: Why does any of this matter, and why should we care?"
Cineuropa
"Saverio Costanzo regales us with a personal and clever cinematic variation on selected themes from the films of Federico Fellini"
