- Synopsis
- In 1966, the young political José Sarney asked the cinema promise Glauber Rocha to film his possession over Maranhão State government. Sarney was young and full of ideas on how to change the misery history of one of the poorest States in Brazil... Glauber was his friend and had a left political view so he accepted the job.. Glauber had just filmed "Deus e o Diabo na Terra do Sol" (Black God, White Devil) and was in the middle of production of his masterpiece "Terra em Transe".. The result wasn't what Sarney expected at all... This short reflects the geniality of Glauber, as Sarney got to Brazilian presidency in 1986, after the death of the Congress elected Tancredo Neves, being the first Brazilian president after the dictatorship. Until these days in 2011 he is the president of the Senate for the fourth time! Maranhão? Oh, it is still one of the poorest States in the Country, and since then (1966) is dominated by Sarney's family.. A shame!
The result was not quite what he expected...
