- Synopsis
- Stop-motion film from Emile Cohl has a clown walk out in front of a group of people and do various tricks including standing on his head, riding a horse and falling face first off the horse. When viewing this film it's important to remember that stop-motion was still in a very early stage and when you compare Cohl's work to other films from the era, there's no question that what you're seeing here quite impressive. During the clown's act only he gets the stop-motion animation but between his sets we also see the reactions of the crowd members. If you wanted to be harsh I guess you could argue that the background characters should have some movement even while the clown is doing his thing. Either way, this is a fun and charming little film.
