- Our homeland is not only our childhood, but also a place that is always sunny. The smells, colors, textures, and sounds of a summer that a bourgeois family spends in their cottage house somewhere in 70s Germany is reconstructed in a nuanced tableau vivant, which activates all of our senses. Focusing on the most discreet details, the director describes the mechanism of memory, which at times sanitizes and at times dismisses the instincts and misdemeanors of this microcosm, as they distend due to summer slump.
