- Synopsis
- Pequeñas voces, an animated documentary and the first Latin American 3D film, made its debut at the Venice Film Festival. A chilling fact sets the stage for this original documentary: according to UNICEF sources, one million children have been displaced by the civil war in Colombia. Academics and experts would surely have plenty to say on the subject, but director Jairo Eduardo Carrillo takes a more direct approach, letting a group of children speak for themselves and recount their traumatic experiences in their own words and drawings. The result is an animated documentary -a format virtually unprecedented in Colombia- in which childlike images are used to recreate the past, the bitter facts of which are common knowledge, but that acquire even greater poignancy when narrated with the frank simplicity of a child. Pequeñas voces gained considerable international status after being selected to compete in the Venice Film Festival
