Media Author Review
United States
Variety
"Farhadi’s weakest film yet is still better than the vast majority of commercially made dramas (...) This film lacks the precision — or ambition — of Farhadi’s earlier work."
United States
The Hollywood Reporter
"'Everybody Knows' (Todos lo saben) has the classic ingredients of the best work of Asghar Farhadi (...) The result is an odd, somewhat underwhelming hybrid that’s part talky thriller, part family drama"
United States
IndieWire
"Farhadi reveals just enough involving details to pause at individual moments and rest on more intimate observations (...) A provocative meditation on the dynamics of communication"
United States
The Playlist
"[Some] areas remain frustratingly underdeveloped (...) Given a gripping premise and a game cast [Farhadi] has engineered perhaps his most ordinary film."
United States
The Wrap
"The Iranian director is a master of examining the tensions of class and gender (...) [A] strong, disquieting work"
United States
The New York Times
"[It] adds up to less than the sum of its parts. The high emotional temperature of the performances can’t quite disguise the mechanical nature of the story"
United States
rogerebert.com
"Farhadi’s forte is evoking contemporary moral dilemmas that play out in melodramatic relationships (...) Farhadi seems uncomfortable with his foray into farcical and comic elements"
United Kingdom
The Guardian
"Intimately painful and powerfully acted (...) Anchored by three heavyweight performances from Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Ricardo Darín (…) Rating: ★★★★ (out of 5)"
United Kingdom
Screendaily
"Asghar Farhadi deftly inserts love, resentment, class, money and family ties into a propulsive narrative (...) Solidly entertaining"
United Kingdom
Telegraph
"Farhadi’s screenplay does an artful job of keeping vital fragments of each of its characters secret (...) The climate of over-determined melodrama is rather less involving (…) Rating: ★★★ (out of 5)"
