Media Author Review
United States
Variety
"Visually wondrous but short on substance otherwise (...) [it] is saved by the reunion of the captivating 'The Theory of Everything' co-leads."
United States
The Hollywood Reporter
"[It] achieves impressive elevation as a bracing and sympathetic account of two early and very different aviators who together reached literal new heights in a perilous field of endeavor"
United States
The Playlist
"A hodge podge of a story hat only really works when Glaisher [Redmayne] and Wren [Jones] are in the sky. And when they are it’s absolutely gorgeous."
United States
Rolling Stone
"[It] is visually stunning thanks to the computer-generated effects in the air (...) Still, 'The Aeronauts' is hobbled time and again by the attempt to add the juice of fiction to a story that could and should have stood on its own. (…) Rating: ★★★ (out of 5)"
Cineuropa
"[It] plays so loose with the truth that it feels like a complete fabrication (...) 'The Aeronauts' struggles to get off the ground."
United States
IndieWire
"When so many supersized blockbusters take the potential of CGI action for granted, 'The Aeronauts' finds a fresh use for it by turning the exhilaration of discovery into a real visual treat."
United States
Collider
"Jones and Redmayne charm in a lighter-than-air adventure (...) It’s not the most exciting movie you’ll see all year, but I was never bored while I was watching it."
United States
IGN
"A deathly dull piece of awards season bait, featuring a pair of uninspired lead performances."

"A thrilling, action-packed, wide-vista yarn from the sharp quills of Jack Thorne and co-writer and director Tom Harper, this Amazon-backed project is deceptively simple yet surprisingly deft"
United Kingdom

"There’s no doubt that 'The Aeronauts' is an uplifting feature (if you’ll pardon the pun), with a sense of wonder that runs throughout and as cheesy and feel-good as you’d want it to be (…) Rating: ★★★½ (out of 5)"
