- Synopsis
- Wong Kar-wai's Fallen Angels is a sequel of sorts to the director's "Chungking Express". The narrative intercuts two story lines. The first follows a hitman who finds that the assassin's life has slowly lost its allure. Complicating his life is his beautiful contact who pines after him with fetishistic ardor, although the two almost never met in their two-year partnership. In another part of the city, He, a mute, boyish ex-convict, makes a living by sneaking into and running businesses after hours. Still living with his father, the restless He falls for Cherry, a woman getting over her recent breakup.

- Critics' reviews
-
-
"An exhilarating rush of a movie"
-
"'Fallen Angels' certainly abounds in visual pizazz, clever in jokes and trendy pop references, but such things can carry a movie only so far."
-
"Wong Kar-Wai's cinematic style is unmistakable: hip, colorful and energetic and the film's frenetic pacing and exuberant camera work make the streets of Hong Kong a neon wonderland"
-
"Dull it is not, but Wong's trademark sense of romantic melancholy fails to jell amid all the excess"
-
"To describe the plot is to miss the point. 'Fallen Angels' takes the materials of the plot -- the characters and what they do -- and assembles them like a photo montage. At the end, you have impressions, not conclusions."
