- Synopsis
- Japan, late 19th century. A fleeing ronin (Ken Watanabe) is lured by a mercenary gig to avenge the mutilation of a prostitute. However, taking on the mantle of bounty hunter plunges him back into his violent past... Asian film star Ken Watanabe (Inception) stars in director Lee Sang-il’s visionary remake of Clint Eastwood’s iconic Academy Award winner. Continuing a rich tradition of cross-cultural adaptations, Lee swaps six-shooters for samurai swords, transposing the classic western to Meiji-period Japan.
