- Synopsis
- Post-Soviet Armenia is the setting for VODKA LEMON, a feature film that feels like a documentary in its touching portrayal of a devastated community. Hamo is a destitute widower with two sons, one of whom is a deadbeat who lives in a vodka-induced stupor. But Hamo manages to find some solace in the letters he receives from his other son who lives in Paris, and his daily visits to his wife’s grave. At the cemetery Hamo meets Nina, a widow who lost her husband to war. They are people in an isolated community who are linked by what they have lost, linked by the limitations of their lives. However, as the winter snow begins to melt, little hints of love and hope appear amidst the hardships, in ways that are both surprising and moving.
