Synopsis

The imaginary republic of San Marcos would be paradise were it not for the uneasiness of a town on the verge of rebellion and the plans by revolutionaries to overthrow the 20-year dictatorship of Gen. Bustillos. Bustillos is madly in love with Rosa, the wife of one of his subordinates, a sick obsession that will lead to his eventual downfall. The romantic and nostalgic decade of the '50s is recreated on the small screen in minute detail, underscored by the unforgettable music of Agustin Lara, whose boleros are heard throughout the drama via the voice of Lucía Méndez.
